The vast majority of our team was part of an SEC Greek organization. So, we get it.

We value our experiences and strongly believe they have shaped us into the people we are today. We desire to use technology to improve the day-to-day operations of sorority and fraternity members all while empowering young leadership development.

Coming from a small town in rural West Georgia and attending a public, county school, my high school was far from a pipeline to large universities like Auburn. By essentially going alone to Auburn, my fraternity became my family and Auburn became my home.

From there, I began my first business Tailgate Guys and PRE Event Resources when I was 23. Our first office was out of my back bedroom. Tailgate Guys later expanded to 63 campuses holding exclusive partnerships with universities across the country. We held 23 offices and over 900 employees across the country.

During the time of scaling Tailgate Guys and PRE all over the country, I picked up my fraternity alumni magazine and noticed an article about fraternities having to move their events off campus. Knowing what my fraternity experience meant to me as a father of two little girls: Elizabeth James (6) and Margaret Charles (3), as a husband to my wife Melanie (who I met in an Accounting class at Auburn), as a Christian, and as a businessman - I knew I had to step in to make sure the Greek life experience stayed intact.

After I exited Tailgate Guys and PRE Event Resources to a Private Equity buyer, I took a year off to spend with my young and growing family. It was a fantastic year and I never thought I would get back into the business building.  But the idea of Chptr kept popping up in my head… God had other plans! I called the band back together, looping in members from my leadership company at Tailgate Guys. As we began to have conversations with student leaders, campus leaders, and commercial partners in the Greek system, we found that there was a gaping hole in software and management for Greek Life. For the next year, the groundwork began to be laid for the team, the service, and the technology. Our mission became clear: Elevating the Greek Life Experience and Empowering Young Leaders.

Chptr was officially launched in February of 2023 with the goal of working for the chapters, aggressively pursuing feedback, and elevating Greek Life from every angle. We are making a market just like we did at Tailgate Guys, and we expect to leave a strong positive impact on the Greek community just as it has done for all of us.

This is only just the beginning. See you out there…
